“Homeschooling during the coronavirus will set back a generation of children. Long breaks are damaging. Virtual learning is erratic. The stakes are high.” – Washington Post – March 2020

March 2020 was a life changing moment for the entire globe.  The pandemic forced children to be homeschooled, which caused many parents to become creative in how they created the best environment for their children to continue to thrive in this “new normal”.

We took the calling seriously, and partnered with Purposeful Seed, along with its founder Erica Harris, to develop and deliver a 12 week financial literacy program for youth between the ages of 8 and 16, to ensure that they received quality education around financial literacy.

Alongside Purposeful Seed, we committed over 50 hours towards financial literacy, which included nearly 50 students across America, including a few international students, who came together each week, to learn the principles of wealth.  “ Give, Save, then Spend… to Win, Win, Win”.  Students were taught lessons about the stock market, debt, along with  basic fundamentals of finance and investing to keep them laser focused on the fundamentals and to give parents the support they needed through a challenging time.

A few testimonials from our students parents that showcase the dedication from Purposeful Seed, and our team.

“I would be remiss if I let another day go by without thanking you for your AWESOME Financial Literacy Class that my son Amari St. Jean participated in last spring. The topics were timely, important, enjoyable, and most importantly engaging.  As an educator myself, I saw even more value in your team by the quality of the work that you put in place for the students.”

“I just wanted to take a moment to thank you ladies for all that you took time to invest in our children about money and financial literacy a few short months ago. Both of my children attended the classes.  It gave them such eye opening dialogue and thought processes that they have really begun to run with.  Our daughter worked two jobs this summer, one at a small deli, the other as an entrepreneur as she turned her love for doing her own nails into doing other peoples.  Our family rule is that whenever you receive money you tithe 10%, then with the rest you save half and you can spend half so with half of her savings adding up all summer, she just saved $1,000 of her own money! She is beyond ecstatic with seeing her own progress through dedication and sacrifice.

Our son just turned 10 in August and for his birthday we opened a savings account for him. The day he got his bank card he wanted to take part of his spending money and take it to his savings just so that he could use the ATM. He was so excited about saving his money, his comment was “I feel so alive!” My hubby and I are having very proud parent moments looking at them adapt the ways that we are teaching them and you both have helped us do that so very much!!

The seeds that you have sown in them are growing and producing a harvest in our life, so I just wanted to share again many thanks for your sacrifice of making time to share wisdom, insight and love to our young people.  You are making a difference!!
